Extraction Tips for Burglin' Gnomes
Back to guidesThe extraction phase is where most Burglin' Gnomes runs go wrong. Crews finish their tasks, grab extra loot, and then panic when the detection meter spikes on the way out. A clean escape requires staging loot early, setting retreat signals, and knowing when to leave money on the table. These five tips turn your extraction from a scramble into a repeatable process.

5 extraction strategies
Instead of carrying loot all the way from deep rooms to the exit in one trip, create a staging pile near the exit. The hauler drops items there, then the whole crew extracts in a single fast move.
Why: Reduces the time any gnome spends carrying loot through dangerous corridors. Shorter carry distances mean less noise.
Pick a word or phrase the whole crew agrees on. When anyone says it, everyone drops what they’re doing and heads to the exit. No arguments, no last grabs.
Why: Hesitation after a retreat call is the #1 cause of full wipes. A pre-agreed signal removes decision paralysis.
If you’ve completed the High-Gnome’s mandatory tasks and the detection meter is above 50%, extract immediately with whatever loot you have. Don’t chase optional items.
Why: A partial haul keeps your upgrades and run streak. A wipe costs everything. The math always favors leaving early.
On large maps, one crew member (usually the anchor) should stay near the exit to watch for threats and keep the route clear while others finish tasks.
Why: Without an exit watcher, the crew can arrive at a blocked exit and panic. The anchor’s job is to ensure the exit stays viable.
After a noisy event, the detection meter takes a few seconds to start decaying. Wait for the meter to drop back below 50% before making the final extraction move.
Why: Extracting during a noise spike means any additional sound from running to the exit pushes the meter into the danger zone.
EXTRACTION CHECKLIST: [ ] Retreat signal agreed before entry [ ] Loot staged near exit (not deep rooms) [ ] Mandatory tasks done → extract if meter >50% [ ] Exit watcher assigned on Estate maps [ ] Wait for meter <50% before final move
